Is Egypt moving to Renewable Energy?
For a long time Egypt has known it needs to move to renewable energy, as about 95% percent of Egypt's energy needs are answered with oil and gas. However the move to renewable energy has been extremely slow. The cost of moving to renewable energy is extremely high, and no where near as cheap as the oil and gas used right now. There has been some movement towards renewable energy though.
Wind
Wind is the biggest source of renewable energy being harvested currently in Egypt, in fact the Zafarana District is one of the biggest onshore wind farms in the world.
One area that is especially valuable for harvesting energy is the Suez Gulf, which has 11 meters of wind per second which is even more than the Zafarana District (9 meters of wind per second).

Water
One of the already input forms of renewable energy is Hydro-Electricity, which has already begun to be harnessed through the Aswan Dam, and so focus on renewable energy has been focused elsewhere.
Solar
Because of it's location Egypt is one of the best places for Solar Energy to be harvested but because of costs it has been put low on the priority list.
